An ergonomic posture refers to the optimal alignment and positioning of the body while performing activities, particularly during work, to minimize stress on the body and prevent injuries. This posture aims to maintain the spine’s natural curves and involves positioning the body to be balanced and supported, reducing strain on muscles, joints, and tendons.
An ergonomic sitting posture includes keeping the feet flat on the floor, knees in line with or slightly lower than the hips, back supported by the chair, arms at a 90-degree angle, and head and neck aligned with the spine. The monitor should be at eye level to avoid bending the neck.
Standing posture involves maintaining the feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, arms hanging naturally with elbows at a right angle, and the head and neck in a neutral position. Supportive footwear and standing on an anti-fatigue mat can also enhance ergonomic standing posture.
